Michael J Thomas is a determined, young artist, who has been attracting audiences for years with his fresh, innovative sound. He began his career through entering multiple talent shows, and performing as a solo artist for school and community events. Then at the age of 19, he embarked on the opportunity to become the saxophonist for a group called the Jive Rockets. While touring a wide array of Midwest venues with the Jive Rockets, the group had the privilege to open for multitudes of prestigious bands such as the Brian Setzer Orchestra, Big Bad Voo Doo Daddy, Sister Soleil, and Bill Haley's Original Comets.
His sound has been described as smooth and sensuous, while his most frequent compliment is that he generates a beautiful, dark, rich tone that is not common in most saxophonists. His passion for music comes from his deep immense love for R&B/Soul and jazz. He has been inspired by some of the greats from Marvin Gaye, Al Green, John Coltrane to David Sanborn. The simplest way to describe his musical style or approach to writing is that he writes melodies that can easily be transformed into a vocal arrangement that integrates strong hooks with an R&B flavor.

With his career continually growing, he has been put on the same bill with other popular smooth jazz artists such as Boney James, Kim Waters, Brian Culbertson, Richard Elliot, Peter White, and Chuck Loeb.
