mercylewis is a trio created and fostered in Spokane, WA, comprised of guitar, drums and vocals.

Their style is varied and complex, vacillating between punk, alternative rock, progressive acoustic rock sounds and a kind of catchy, girly melodic presence in the space of a verse.

Their music is guitar bred alternative rock with a tiny dash of punk for flavor. The vocals are aggressive and lyrically rich. The drums drive the music and talk back to the guitar with contagious rhythms that infect your head and feet. They top it off with a tasty blend of delicately pitched harmonies, where the vocals wind together and ring seamlessly.
The trio has been surprising their local music scene with an alt rock blend of squeaky clean guitar and kinetic drumbeats, dressed in girl vocals that are sometimes punk, sometimes waveringly beautiful and always fearless.

Bio

The textured and layered vocal sounds found in many pieces are a direct result of experimenting with ways to make the sound fuller and more rhythmic, after attempts to get a steady drummer fizzled.
As the group was gaining momentum and booking regularly, Alison and her partner relocated to another city. At about the same time, Jen and Nisha met drummer Joe Varela and asked him to come jam with them, and possibly join the group. Joe refused, saying that he was too busy. Jen and Nisha resigned themselves to being an acoustic duo, relying on lyrical substance and harmonic layers to make an impression in lieu of volume.
One year later the girls ran into Joe again, and re-extended their offer. Joe figured that he had met some tenacious chicks, and accepted. They rehearsed together once, and never looked back.
