Bio

Steven Cochran, assuming the alias of Medic for musical works, began experimenting with audio at the age of 16 while studying visual arts at the Carver Center for Arts + Technology. Seeking something different and challenging, he looked beyond traditional media and grew more interested in using technology while experimenting with and developing music. For Medic, the process of creating music has often been driven by an abstract right brain functioning in conjunction with and being processed through more logical and mechanical left brain activity manipulating and interfacing with the power of computers and machines to materialize sound. Medic progressed musically through self teaching, experimentation, and insight from others, and in April of 2007 he released his debut album "01101100011011110111011001100101." The album features a collaboration with Charles Levi of My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult and Pigface, has been in rotation on the FM college circuit in the U.S., and also includes a track featured nearly in its entirety on Fox Network Television. Shortly after the release of "01101100011011110111011001100101," the "Negative Impact V0.2" compilation featuring Medic and 17 other artists was released for distribution throughout the U.S. and Europe. The release went on to sell out and the newest installment in the series, "Negative Impact v0.3," is currently available in CD format. For two years, Medic filled the role of organizer, promoter and resident at CABAL, a weekly electronic party at The Depot in Baltimore. He later worked alongside DJs Umbris and Warring as a resident at the Dance Central party on Saturdays at Grand Central. In addition to regular appearances as a DJ in the Baltimore/DC Metropolitan area, Medic has also done deployments for various venues, events and radio shows throughout the northeastern U.S. megalopolis and beyond (including Manhattan's lower east side, Long Island, Delaware, and Philadelphia). Currently, Medic is locked away while recording his second full length album, nurturing other talent and focusing on other upcoming releases for his Anything Industries label.
