Mauri Bailey was born in Georgia and moved to Brooklyn at the age of 2. She's been a New York native ever since and her sound reflects the many experiences and flavors that are associated with the Capital of the World. Mauri Bailey has been singing and performing since she could utter rhythmic sounds. She started writing songs at the tender age of eight, a pop-inspired ditty called "Rollercoaster". It is these gifts that she has taken from the natural soulful sounds that are associated with gospel singers and fine-tuned throughout her academic career. Mauri, like many singers got her start early on. Whether it was performing at family gatherings or participating in school events and choirs she decided early on that singing was meant for her. A love for her craft has been the main driving force that has not only kept her striving but has also kept her growing as an artist. Her classical training at Friend's Seminary in Manhattan has given her the tools to be truly unique from the many singers who claim to be the best of both worlds. Mauri has been trained in jazz, opera, and musical theater making her one of the most versatile performers around. Currently she is further digging into new ground, continuing her musical training at Hunter College giving her 7 solid years of musical training.
