Mary V I Harrison Bio

Mary V I Harrison has always been a glass half full kind of woman. Instead of baulking at each fork in the road Mary would eagerly set off enjoying the exploration of a new path and new direction.

This outlook on life became her ally in 2016 when Mary's vocal cords were permanently damaged during a routine day surgery procedure. Unable to speak, never mind sing, Mary attended the Australian Songwriters Conference (ASC) at Ettalong Beach, NSW on the Australian Queen's Birthday long weekend. A hurdle became a godsend as Mary spent a lot of her time listening and observing - powerful skills for a songwriter. Communication for Mary during the conference was via a blue whiteboard, which she took full advantage of to meet and collaborate with songwriters as well as make valuable contacts with industry professionals. These cherished contacts have been maintained and strengthened since that weekend.

One such connection was with Adrian and Barbara Hannan of The SongStore in Mount Evelyn, Victoria, Australia. Despite Mary's vocal limitations, they found a way to easily communicate musical ideas to allow the production of Mary's compositions to come to fruition.

Mary's vocal cords recovered to the point she was able to speak with regular breaks but her singing voice did not return. A wonderful friend of Mary's came to the rescue, putting down vocal tracks to her songs on the condition that the vocalist's identity remained a secret. The name 'Ms Anon' was suggested, which the vocalist loved and hence is the name that has been used to credit her on the tracks she features on.

"Step out of the shadows, be fearless, try new things and work with people who share your passion. When you work on something from a good place with a good heart, only good things can come of it."
