My Bio

Marina Lenore Abramov—New Yorker, composer, ASCAP member, prize winner for compositions in multiple genres—and most of all, a woman blessed to be inspired by music.
As a little girl growing up in Russia, I was already responding to the music that was always in our home. That love continued after we came to the United States in 1989 when I was just 10 years old, and by the mid-1990s I had begun to compose innovative musical works that challenged some of the most widely accepted ideas in the modern classical tradition. My music speaks of joy and sadness, of laughter and tears—in a language understood by all and a style that is uniquely my own. Modern classical, pop, ballads, Latin, dance, rhythm and blues—my compositions take many forms, but their meaning and their beauty soar clearly with every note.
In 2004, VH1’s Song of the Year named me a top finalist in the R-n-B category for Fool’s Love, and a few months later, Heaven Only Knows won a first place for me as best emerging songwriter in the pop category in a competition sponsored by McClure and Trowbridge Publishing. Last winter, my Latin ballad, Cuentame received honorable mention in the USA Song Writing Competition.
