Feelings of "intimacy," "relaxation, " and "intrigue" describe the variety of music Leanie Mendelsohn writes. Her instrumental musical style encompassing Romantic, Dramatic, Mystery and New Age is specifically geared to film and video. Documentaries have been her main interest of concentration so far. In addition to current projects she is involved with Leanie is working on a CD of past music and new material she is writing. Piano being her primary instrument, she layers orchestral sounds with it or at times departs completely from it, concentrating on using whatever sound the production calls for. Her works are on video in various libraries including the Art Institute of Chicago, have aired on television in the St. Louis area, New York and Berlin. They have also been used in high school and universitiy classes throughout parts of the U.S. Leanie has two regional Emmy Awards and one nomination for music composition.

With two regional Emmy awards and three nominations, Leanie Mendelsohn's instrumental music encompasses Romantic, Dramatic, Mystery and New Age styles for the numerous documentaries she has composed for. "End of the line: Orphan Trains," "When the Spill Hit Homer," "Beyond the Labels: The Human Side of AIDS," and "Worlds of Bright Glass" are a few of the programs that have aired on television in the St. Louis area, New York, and Berlin, Germany. The documentaries she composed for have been used in high schools and university classes. Clients include Southwestern Bell Corp., Citizenship Education Clearing House, the city of Eugene, Oregon, the Leukemia Society, The Catholic Health Association of the U.S. and The Heritage Account. Leanie has a degree in Music from the University of Texas at El Paso. She has resided in Texas, Colorado, Utah, Spain, Germany, and Greece.
