Piano and guitar-playing Memphis sweetheart Lauren Strange made her first splash in the music scene at 9 years of age when she wrote, recorded, and entered her first song in a school songwriting contest, where she won first place. From early on in her career, Lauren has received numerous comparisons likening her voice to that of her musical idol, Alison Krauss. Now 21, Lauren is a student at the University of Memphis, where she is pursuing a bachelor's degree in psychology as well as a minor in music. Lauren has appeared on the News Channel 3 WREG-TV Memphis "Live at 9" morning show both as a solo artist and with her band. She recently joined a line-up of 16 Memphis-area songwriters in the benefit concert "Songwriters Campfire for Haiti," which raised money for Haiti earthquake relief efforts. Lauren also won first place in the American Songwriter Lyric Contest, and her lyrics appear in the March/April 2010 issue of the magazine.
