KMD

Hailing straight out of Birmingham (BrumTown) K.M.D is a Producer, Songwriter, Artist, DJ, Facilitator, Video Producer/Editor and Entrepreneur, who oozes creativity and is a highly skilled, versatile individual who commands acknowledgement and admiration. K.M.D is the brainchild and C.E.O behind the independent label Seriously Hectic Records that was set up in 2002.

For those who don't know KMD he is a very determined and business minded individual who takes pride in his work.

K's musical career started at a tender age of 8, on his dad's Reggae sound system. Amazed at the sound of his voice coming through the speakers, K.M.D began his music destiny.

Growing up on the soulful sounds of his mothers Motown records and the passionate messages he got from his fathers Roots/Reggae collection, K.M.D will tell you "melodies and emotion are the key elements that need to be present to make good music". Living by this principal he has been creating a buzz in the industry & in the streets with his high quality, unique production and authentic, heartfelt lyrics that you can visualize as well as feel.

Making waves overseas he has worked with a variety of international artist's such as Styles P (D-Block), Wynta Storm (from the Bronx, New York), Lappaleng from Jamaica (former artist on 'Shocking Vibes', Beenie Man's former label) and he came 2nd out of 70 contestants (worldwide) at the Activision 'True Crime' game soundtrack competition, in Midem (Cannes, France) 2006.

Award winning Producer/Artist KMD wins Best UK Music Video for 'History In The Making' ft. Seriously Hectic Allstars at the Music Video and Shorts Awards in 2007, a part of the Black International Film Festival held in Birmingham, UK.

His music has been featured on MTV Base, Channel U (were he reached No.1 on the Urban Chart Show twice) and various other TV stations.

Birmingham hosted the UK's first ever 'U-R-A Star' concert for schools on 24th March 2009, at the city's National Indoor Arena. One of the biggest shows ever staged for schools, the U-R-A Star music concert tackles a range of teen issues from gangs and knife crime to teenage pregnancy and self-esteem, and was seen by 5,000 local pupils. KMD performed alongside his close friend and Award winning Social Justice artist Witness, who is the brainchild for the event and the headline artist. They have previously completed a school road show promoting the concert to schools in Birmingham, Wolverhampton and Coventry.

KMD was one of the few UK artists that was selected to showcase at 'New Skool Rules', Europe's largest Hip-Hop and R&B music conference held in Rotterdam in April 2009.

In September 2009 KMD was featured on BBC 1Xtra's 'Breaking Into the Industry' documentary. K was 1 of four artistes who was followed by a journalist throughout out the summer of 09, while on his daily mission to 'break into' the music industry. The documentary was aired on the 30th Sep and is also online on the BBC 1xtra website.
