Joshua Butcher's Bio

* Where is Joshua from?

Joshua was born in Yuma AZ but spent most of his childhood going from city to city with his mother who couldn't sit still very long. Many of the childhood years were spent in Southern California.

His mother was a bar singer who loved to sing whenever she could get a chance, Joshua grew up listening to her sing to records of 80s country.

Joshua spent much of his teenage years and early 20s singing in churches and wherever else he could. Joshua has been told that his voice is haunting and soulful, his early country influences and love for modern acoustic makes his music a must listen to.

* Joshua Butcher speaking about his influences?

“I have a pretty wide base when it comes to influence of music:
My favorite music is kinda folkish..country that showcases a vocal that is really soulful and passionate, like Patty Griffin, Joe Purdy, Ryan Adams, Neko Case, Caitlin Cary & Thad Cockrell and of couse Gillian Welch & David Rawlings.

I love it when there is some bluegrass feel put in music but not so much as to change the genre to bluegrass - like Alison Kraus & Union Station and NickelCreek.

I also LOVE strong acoustic goodness like: Jason Mraz, Damian Rice, Shawn Colvin and Jewel.

Other influences that must be mentiones are: Sheryl Crow, Sarah McLachlan, Dixie chicks, Patty Griffin(she need to be mentioned twice), Wilco, Peter Gabriel, Tragically Hip, Del Amitri, The Eagles,Tracy Chapman, 80s country music and a bunch more.”
