Jason Masi Bio

Jason Masi is a songwriter originally from Fredericksburg, VA and currently residing in Alexandria, VA who has developed a reputation in the regional music community for great songwriting and energetic live performances. His unyielding dedication to his craft and memorable shows have resulted in a high demand among clubs, promoters and festivals earning him a full time touring schedule.

Jason performs solo, duo, with his solo band and with his Richmond, VA based roots/rock/soul band Jubeus in a variety of styles including folk, r&b, funk, raggae, blues and pop. Though Jason cites his influences as the traditional soul of Marvin Gaye, Bill Withers, Stevie Wonder, and folk and blues stylings of Van Morrison, James Taylor, and Tom Petty, his songwriter approach is truly versatile and eclectic.

Already charting on a number of college radio stations, Jason's 2010 debut solo album Balance & Pull is "an album with sonic and lyrical depth" that employs "simplicity, honesty and vulnerability making it accessible and an enjoyable listen." (Elliot Crane - Dandelion Ink). Previous releases in Jason's catalogue include "Two Tone Circels" (2004) and "Natural Mood" (2007) both released under the Jubeus moniker. Both releases received critical praise from a number of national publications including "Performing Songwriter" where "Natural Mood" was named a top DIY release.

Jason's diverse appeal has resulted in opening performances for a number of national acts including Blind Melon, Everclear, Cyro Baptista, The Whigs, Donna the Buffalo, RAQ, Soldiers of Jah Army, Michelle Nixon, The Sugar Hill Gang, The Mosquitos, U-Melt, Pinmonkey and Jimmy Fortune.
