Viennese keyboarder / composer GERALD KRAMPL runs his own music production company INDIGO MUSIC (www.indigomusic.at) since 1984 to produce and market his own works, which range from former prog rock bands KYRIE ELEISON and INDIGO, to his New Age project - AGNUS DEI, his neo-classical/electronica soundtrack works for a holocaust documentary - 31PROJECTS.at and a disability project - 7MINUTEN.at, and his solo albums - TIMEDIVER (2008), and the actual album - INNOCENT WASTELAND.

Biography

Gerald Krampl's musical career started in his early youth, by taking classical piano lessons. In the 70s and 80s he formed two prog-rock bands, Kyrie Eleison and Indigo, which gained a high insider reputation worldwide. Gerald played keyboards and wrote all songs for these bands, and several LPs, CDs and Singles were successfully released.
The company Indigo Music was then founded in 1983, first to market only these own band works, but soon this was expanded with various new artists and side projects ranging from disco to folk, which were produced in the own studio.

After a break from the music business for some years, he started in 1999 together with his wife Hilde a new project - Agnus Dei. Inspired by their yearlong experiences with Reiki (master degree), Runes, Blossoms and Meditation, this project combined their two skills by creating spiritual fantasy tales expressed through all-instrumental music on the audio CDs, and an unique poetry in the "value- added" booklets. Gerald's compositions, in a neo-classic piano and keyboard orchestrated style, are often compared to the spiritual instrumental musings of Michael Hoppe, David Lanz, Vangelis, Andreas Vollenweider or Rick Wakeman.
"The instrumental melodies are not simply "light and fluffy" as so many other New Age recordings are, but possess serious substance and demonstrate remarkable keyboard skills" (2005 by PJ Birosik from MusikInternational))
Included in all Agnus Dei recordings are expanded booklets (bi-lingual German/English) featuring Hilde's verse, who was Gerald's muse and beloved wife of many years until her demise in 2002 due to a cancer disease. Her poems take a fresh look at classic, esoteric themes in a positive, and imaginative manner.

In 2006 followed a new musical challenge, with an emotionally very intense electronic/neo-classical soundtrack work, available in an expanded version also on CD, for an educational TV and multimedia internet documentary about the Holocaust in WW2 - very recommended to visit this impressive presentation, which was realized with exclusive authentic historical material provided by the holocaust museum in Auschwitz(Pl), in the web at..... www.31projects.at!

As somehow an antipode to this very dark and sad music, you can see his Follow up solo work, which was released in winter 2008 - settled between electronic and prog-rock in a kind of "vintage style of the 80's" it is best to describe as "electronic soundscapes for mind movies", titled "Timediver".

Besides there is still evident a strong interest in meditative, healing music, and therefore Gerald has released early in 2009 a recording with spoken (only in German)classic fairy tales combined with an especially composed piano based relaxing music.

Out of the lot of material composed for this project, immediately developed the music around an idea for a new solo album. But this time with the effort in mind, to keep away from all commercial and genre orientated concessions, stay as minimalistc and close to the roots as possible (only piano + max. 2 more synth. strings), but also to try a combination with electronic and nature soundeffects which now add something like a soundtrack effect to the whole. Another aim was, that this music should become easily to perform live, also a plan for the future.
"Innocent Wasteland" is now the result, and will be released in oct. 2009. It has become a somehow dark and melancholic, nearly to say concept album, about the endless cycle of destruction and reawakening.
Some of the music has immediately also been used for a new web project - www.7minuten.at (with the topic "Disability").
