David Caissy - Lead Guitar
David attended McGill University’s jazz program from 1994 – 1996 and left school to take on the lead guitar role for Canadian band, “Pushy Pushy” who toured across Canada and the US from 1996 – 2000 (11 out of 12 months a year for 5 years). Pushy Pushy’s self-titled debut album sold over 5,000 copies and resulted in 2 videos which were aired on Much Music. Following this, David played in successful Winnipeg cover band “Jukebox Heroes” and has fronted his own original band as well.
Sheri Dawn Young - Keys
Sheri spent her youth training in classical piano through the Western Board of Music, receiving honors up to the Grade 9 level before attending college. After graduating with a diploma in Economic Development, Sheri moved to Calgary and began to revisit music. Adding acoustic guitar to her piano and vocal capabilities Sheri became a highlight on the local music scene; by 2003 she was hosting multiple open jam nights and performing in acoustic duos & trios before joining The Council in 2004.
Don Saviak - Drums
Don attended the jazz performance program at Mount Royal College in Calgary during 2003 – 2004. As a testament to his musical passions, he has gone on to start his own percussion program for youth aged 9 – 14 called the Allegiance Elite Junior Percussion Program. Further, Don also teaches percussion at two music stores in Calgary (Sak’s Music and Horizon Music). In his youth Don performed with Allegiance Elite Drum & Bugle Corps for 9 years, and won several awards for Best Drum Line, as well as a gold medal in an individual ensemble competition. Don had been performing with various singer – songwriters in and around Calgary as well as playing in a jazz trio for 2 years before joining Jay Burns & The Council in 2006.
