Bio

Daniel Gray is a 21-year-old singer/songwriter, actor, writer and performer. Drawing inspiration from his hometown of New Orleans, LA, Daniel has been performing since he was 10 years old and is currently a senior in college at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, GA.

Daniel Gray began his career in musical theater at Holy Name of Jesus working with music teacher, Shella Swartzmann, on the production of Alice In Wonderland. Daniel was cast as the famed Caterpillar and subsequently stole the show! Soon after, Daniel set his sights on the more competitive regional theater scene and prepared for an audition at NORD Theater to work with the late, and great, Ty Tracey.

After his acceptance to NORD Theatre, Daniel began work on his first regional production, The Wiz. Over the next 4 years at NORD Theatre, Daniel learned the skills of stage performance from Mr. Tracey and fell in love with performing. During this time he began to write songs in a series of journals he kept, learned to play the piano and began to formulate melodies for his music. He found a new ?escape? through writing and performing music and a realization that he was a born performer!

To expand his horizons in theater, Daniel traveled Georgia to work with the Atlanta Workshop Players, where he, once again, stole the show in the production of Masquerade, an original musical. During this time period, Daniel also performed in New Orleans with The Uptown Players, headed by Winton Marcellus.

In 2003 Daniel focused on finish up high school and getting into college. He was accepted into the highly acclaimed Savannah College of Art and Design choosing to major in Sound Design and Film. In May of 2004 Daniel released his
first album Salt On Scar, which has sold over 2000 copies to date, an impressive feat for an independent album with no backing but himself and his music. In 2004, Daniel also stared in three independent films including, Highway 45, College and Sex, and Static. He also performed in the stage play The Hollow by Agitha Christi with the Epiworth players. In 2005, Daniel was hard at work on another album project, preparing to shoot three movies, and continued his attendance at college.

Daniel is a hard worker and is focused and dedicated to anything he puts his mind to. Daniel has many influences in entertainment, including Prince, Janet Jackson, Outkast, Gene Kelly, Anastasia, Robbie Williams, Michael Jackson, Britney Spears, Teena Marie, Usher, Justin Timberlake and Luther Vandross. He would love to be an influence to others as these artists have been to him. Daniel is currently working on a Pop/Dance album and is locked away in a Toronto recording studio lying down the vocal tracks.
