Cienfue

Cienfue is an alternative rock artist from Panama influenced by Panamanian folklore, shamanism and social lyrical content. Inspired by Latin American lore and revolutionary roots (The devil's hat he usually wears is a tribute to the "diablicos sucios" of Panama's folklore) , Cienfue has toured Colombia, Cuba, Venezuela, Ecuador and Costa Rica in the past year, invited to major rock festivals such as Rock al Parque 2007, in Colombia where 20,000 fans sang along to the alcohol depression ballad "Medio Alcoholico Melancolico".

Cienfue's first album, "El Disco es Cultura", was released in late 2005. "The Record is Culture" managed to infiltrate MTV latin with 3 videos, including the underwater video for "Medio Alcoholico Melancolico", which reached the number 4 spot on the 10 most wanted list.
Cienfue's second album, "Macho de Monte Suite" is released in 2008 and given 4 out of 5 stars by Rolling Stone magazine. In November 2008 the video for "Terroristas Tercermundistas" once again puts Cienfue on the 10 most wanted list, making it to number 6 on MTV latin.

What's surprising about all of this is that Cienfue has reached massive audiences without the support or interest of ANY record labels or promotion companies. His low budget home recordings have garnered top spots on international music lists, competing and winning against million dolar productions. His weapon: a gritty, ghostly guitar virtuosity combined with melancholy lyrics that speak truth to the heart of any Spanish speaking listener.
