I was born on the Caribbean Island of St. Kitts and lived there until age 12. The rhythms and lyrics of calypso were my first musical influences. I am graduate of Berklee College of Music. Biography

Brookes, Jones & Company

Brookes, Jones & Company consists of songwriter/flutist Bernard Brookes, and vocalist/songwriter Laurel Jones. Their music has lyrics with spiritual and social meaning, Caribbean, rock and R&B rhythms, and jazz-influenced melodies and harmonies.

Bernard was born on the Caribbean Island of St. Kitts and lived there until age 12. Calypso rhythms and lyrics were his earliest musical influences. He is a graduate of Berklee College of Music in flute and composition. He is also a psychologist and author of two books which are available on Amazon.com: 1) I Am With You Always: Living by Faith in the 21st Century and 2) God, Self & Community: Revelation, Testimony & Practice.

Laurel studied voice in college and has perfomed in many church and secular groups. Bernard and Laurel first worked together in 2003 when she was a director and singer with a choir at Polar Grove Baptist Church in Maryland, where Bernard played the flute. He noticed that Laurel had the ability to inhabit a song; to get comfortable with it and to make it reflect her own personality. When he needed a singer who could articulate the songs that come to him on an almost weekly basis, he naturally thought of her.
