Bio

I am the son of a Kansas dust bowl beauty queen and a poor Colorado muskrat poacher. I am the heir of a sweaty laundress, an icehouse thief and a throwback cattle rancher.
I was born and raised in California but my soul comes from somewhere between Emporia Kansas and Fort Morgan Colorado.
My songs come from the observation of life itself. Observations of a family that is spread over six mid-west, southern and western states and from both sides of the tracks. The observations of the beauty of the land and the wonders of nature. The observations of my beautiful wife and children. Observations of myself.
This music was conceived, written, arranged, performed, recorded and engineered mostly by me and you can probably hear it too. I am a drummer by trade, but it's hard to write songs from behind the drum kit, so, necessity being the mother of invention, I taught myself guitar, bass and the occasional piano. I am still learning and you can probably hear that as well. Knowing my own limitations, I put together a trio, SOLOW, which consists of myself, Henry Ocampo on bass, guitar and piano and Dave Love on Guitars. These songs were done in my home studio during those fleeting hours that were not spent taking care of my two young energetic sons, being an attentive husband or mowing the lawn. I hope you can hear through my music, the soul that physically lives in the city, but spiritually will always be fishing off a dock on a lake in Wyoming. Pondering.
