Over the past year they have been creating their own sound and striving to make music that will captivate the mind and be relevant to every day people.

Extensive Biography

The Last Song is Bobby, William and Andy Mosteller, three brothers born and raised in North Carolina who started playing together six months ago in the attic of their parents house. The group classifies themselves as folk rock and a new alternative country style band.

The Last Song just finished their first recording made up of songs written and performed by the band, including guest appearances by producer/drummer Saul Johnson and bass player Nathan Thomas (Sixpence, Diamond Rio). The album includes Tower which has been reviewed as "smooth" and "natural." Their current project includes promoting their music, building a fan base and working on a full length record.

"The music appeals to a lot of people," Saul Johnson said, "It’s very listenable and relevant to the modern day, and it’s fresh."

Bobby Mosteller learned the bass at the age of 15 and picked up the guitar at 17. From there he started a band, Stellar Tree, with his brother William and two other musicians he met while being a camp counselor at a summer camp. The band played in Georgia and North and South Carolina at hot spots including Ziggy’s in Winston Salem, N.C. They also played many charity events for the Salvation Army and at local University’s like North Carolina State.

After two years the band relocated to Nashville, Tennessee where the four were living out of a car and playing on the streets. They were seen by John Rich and asked to play with the Muzik Mafia, a group of then not known musicians. After playing with people like Big and Rich and Gretchen Wilson for eight months, Bobby and William split from the band for personal reasons and went back to North Carolina in 2003.

In May of that same year Bobby moved to west Texas, fell in love with the Texas music scene and began to hone his skills as a songwriter. After two years in Texas, he came back to North Carolina to write songs with his two brothers.

William Mosteller, who started out his music career by playing the guitar, learned the bass so he could be in his brother’s first band. While working on music with his brothers, he now lends melodic acoustic guitar and vocals to The Last Song’s sound.

Andy Mosteller became a violinist when he bought his first violin in 2004 and began learning while studying music theory. He has also been influenced by historical greats including J.S. Bach and Vivaldi. He brings an emotional and subtle sound to the music the band has been creating.

With inspirations ranging from Robert Earl Keen, Jr. to Pearl Jam, the group has spent the last six months creating their own sound with the main goal of striving to make music that will captivate the mind and be relevant to every day people.
