Artist Bio, Leroy Ball

Leroy Ball, bassist extraordinaire who is well known in Hollywood jazz circles for his backing of such stars as Quincy Jones, Della Reese, Linda Hopkins, Billy Davis, Jr. and Marilyn Mc Coo, brings his own brand of musical mastery to each and every booking.

He is equally at home in the world of theater as well, having provided backing for Sandra Reeves Phillips’ hit, “ Late Great Ladies “ which had a successful run in L.A. at both the Richard Pryor Theater and the Cinegrill in the Roosevelt Hotel.

In addition, Mr. Ball has traveled around the US with other companies of “ Late Great Ladies “ and on his own, booked into clubs, conventions and private parties to recreate his incredible impression of the late, great Louis Armstrong.

His special brand of music knowledge has taken him to Europe by special request of recording artists who demanded his unique musical expertise. In Japan, thanks to his personal appearance and recordings, he is considered one of his generation’s top jazz artists.

Ball began his rapid rise to music master with such classic names in the music world as The Ink Spots, Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, the Coasters, and Lionel Hampton.

In the past few years, Mr. Ball has provided warm-up music for such successful TV hot hits as “The Jerry Seinfeld Show, ” “ The Single Guy, “ ”Soul Man, “ and “Roseanne.”

An all-round artist, as an actor he has appeared in featured appearances in the big screen’s “ Mobsters “ and the Barbara Eden TV series “ Brand New Life.
