History

Ady Ellis is a Northampton based musician who started writing songs with his first band Argonaut in the early eighties. Although short lived with only one gig, it fired his passion for guitars and writing. Shortly after that along with Dave Bones, the band "Bayendekar" was formed in 1982 when they were joined by Gary Underwood , Aggie Demetri and after several vocalists Lee Jones. The band had great success in Northamptonshire and surrounding areas including supporting the then, up and coming Canadian band "Thor" until 1985 when Ady left to join the Oxford based "Chain Reaction"

Chain Reaction had just performed two dates supporting Phil Lynotts "Grand Slam" and Ady with other new members Andy Yates and Nicky Bourne joined John Rigg and founder of the band Derek Hodd to form the 4th incarnation which Derek describes as"The best line up. Awesome live". Ady and Derek got writing and soon there was an almost completely new set written and a new demo "All over the world" was recorded at Spaceward studio's in Ely. Chain Reaction were back on the road and looking forward to some more dates with "Grand Slam". Sadly, Phil Lynott died early in 1986. The band continued gigging around the country and some interest was shown by EMI and Jet Records but, the band ran out of momentum and money . In September 1986 they split for the final time.

After this Ady took a sabbatical from music for a couple of years but was drawn back into it by Russ Gibson with his band "Unknown Legend" for the first time in his life doing cover versions. During this time he met with bass player Martin Nash, a prolific lyricist and they decided to write and record an album. EllisNash music was formed with an old version of Cubase and a computer, they set out to learn how it all worked. After writing countless, songs it was obvious they were never going to get the quality out of the equipment they had. A couple of local musicians, Pete Roberts and Graham Harrison were roped in and the E.P. "Troubled times" was recorded under the name "Presumed Innocent" at Big Noise studio in Northampton to keep the momentum going.

Ady and Martin were joined in 2006 by Martins old band mate Clive Haynes. Having built up bigger better equipment since recording the E.P. it was decided to rent some floor space in a unit and build a studio. ENH Music was formed and the first album"Where clouds cried acid tears" was recorded.

Sadly, later that year while working on their second album, Ady suffered a mini stroke followed 7 weeks later in January 2008 by a major stroke. Undaunted, he had a guitar bought into hospital and writing continued, his main aim to be able to regain enough movement in his right hand to play properly again. At this time 6 songs were entered into the UK songwriting contest resulting in 2 semi final and 4 commended entries in 3 different categories. After leaving hospital it was back to the studio and the recording of the album was finished. Due to Ady being made redundant at the end of 2008 it was decided to close the studio and Ady set up a smaller studio in a spare room at home where he mixed and mastered the second album. "Where gods fear to tread " was finally released in 2009.

2011 see's the founding of Axegoblin music. Ady still continues to write with Martin despite creating the cartoon you see above, but is also writing instrumentals and will collaborate with others writers. If you like what you hear, contact him. He will be happy to hear from you.
