Alex Alarcon Biography

Alexander Alarcon has been performing and playing music since an early age. Born in the United States to a Chilean Couple that moved back to their native country of Chile shortly after Alex's birth. While growing up in Chile he showed a natural talent for music and singing so his parents encouraged him and helped him develop those talents through music lessons and different opportunities to perform for people. At 8 years old he picked up the guitar and started taking lessons that were being offered as part of extracurricular activities at his school. later on as a teenager he picked up the drums and taught himself how to play them. He became a very talented drummer, played in a few bands and gained a lot of musical experience while playing and performing throughout his teen years in Chile. At age 16 he moved back to the United States along with his family where he finished his last two years of high school. During this time he continued studying and playing in the different music ensembles offered at the school. He played drums in jazz band and sang in choir as well. Alex always showed a great talent for playing the drums, guitar and singing but after high school he started to experiment with another hidden innate talent; songwriting and he loved it so much that he decided to just concentrate on songwriting singing and performing from that point on. After High School he attended college for two semesters and then took a break for two years and went to live in Brazil. After coming back from Brazil he started working full time and went back to college to pursue a career in medicine. After two years of school he decided that music was his passion and what he really wanted to pursue, so he applied to Berklee College of Music to perfect and hone his craft and got accepted shortly thereafter. Today Alex is very focused and working hard on his music to become a recognized singer/songwriter. He writes and produces all of his music, a mix of Latin pop and rock, which were his main influences while growing up and even some jazz and funk can also be heard in his music which comes from later influences while studying at Berklee College of Music. His nice hooks, melodies and well-crafted songs leave the listeners engaged and always wanting more. His fluency in Spanish and Portuguese along with the uniqueness of his voice has helped him reach wider audiences especially in the Latin American Market where he hopes to make a lasting impact with his music. He has performed as a singer/songwriter in many music festivals and competitions. In 2003 he was one of the winners in the music festival “Summer Music Fest in Logan, Utah”. In 2004 he was one of the winners of el “Festival de la Cancion Latino-Americana de California”. Today Alex is currently finishing a degree in Music Business Management at the prestigious world renowned Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts where he has been selected and has had the opportunity to sing and perform some of his songs in some of the schools large budget music shows and concerts.
