Musically? from Bach to Stravinsky, from Duke to Dizzy, from the Beatles to Steely Dan to Sting. Recently, I find musical inspiration from Twila Paris and Steven Curtis Chapman.

Bio

Phillip Andrew Newman entered the music business in 1976 after studying jazz composition with Herb Pomeroy and Michael Gibbs and graduating from Berklee College of Music with a degree in Composition. Phillip played keyboards with Jimmy Clanton, Roy Head, Brook Benton, David Lynn Jones, Jim Collins, Freddy Fender, and Osiris. He co-wrote Love In Your Heart and Travelin Salesman which were recorded by Osiris and published on Marlin Records.

In 1986, family pressures move Mr. Newman to change gears. Studying computer science, Phillip landed a job at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center and performing became a weekend thing. However, these newly found computer skills opened a new world in music. Previously written compositions and songs that did not have the financing to record could now be realized.

In 1991, Phillip's wife became very sick and it became a life changing experience for both of them. The Newmans were reintroduced to Jesus. After a long absence from church, the Newmans became very involved in music ministry at a local church. Phillip decided to dedicate all of his musical ablities to honor Jesus Christ. Phillip Andrew Newman is now the musical director of the Contemporary Praise and Worship Service at St. John's Episcopal Church in Ellicott City, Maryland and has composed over 30 hymns that are used in worship every week. It is time to share this music and the Lord's message with the rest of the world!
