Marc Black

Marc plays guitar with a minimal, but powerful style. He has recorded and performed live in many formats from improvisational rock to ambient/experimental performance art, from solo acoustic guitar to exotic compositions for tuba and vocal choir. As Phil Demetrion, music reviewer for Relix, in Paris wrote, "From the 70's right down to the present day, Marc Black's chant-based songs and improvisational rave-ups have kept dancing souls movin' and groovin'. One might say that his live gigs presaged today's 'jam band' scene."

His live appearances continue to evolve and meet with critical acclaim. ASCAP recently featured Marc in performance as part of the Sundance Film Festival.

His new CD, Stroke of Genius, made him the number one selling artist on CDBaby.com a few months back...putting him on the Billboard Magazine "heat seekers" chart.

Altogether Black has created more than a dozen CD's. As composer, Paul Winter, put it, "His songs are great and his singing is superb."

Press:
"These are the artists who manage, somehow, to translate a world of moments into sound. When a musician stumbles upon a moment of miraculous proportion, its metamorphosis into song is nothing short of astonishing. Music, to Black, is: celebrating, mourning, carving something beautiful and human out of life's rawest emotions." JD Goldsmith PULSE

"Marc is fantastic performer and songwriter. We love the eclectic mixture of folk, world, reggae and pop, all so seamlessly melded together with that laid back, but still very strong, clear and engaging vocal."
