Joe Tann Bio

The music industry is on the verge of a renaissance! As people are becoming disenchanted with fallen American false-Idols and flavor-of-the-day pop jingles, a new chapter is beginning; a chapter entitled, JOE TANN, the Story of How HIP-POP SEOUL Began:
This Korean-mix native of Virginia is a one-stop-shop for talent. He is more than just a great voice; he's a writer, musician, producer, and model, and there are no other male artists on the market like TANN. His musical versatility and lyrical adeptness are clear indications of his potential longevity in the entertainment industry. His true musicianship shines, whether his edgy and gritty vocals are resonating from behind a grand piano, or over the club speakers to a sea of nightlife. As an artist, his influences include but are not limited to Frank Sinatra, Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys and the Neptunes.
JOE TANN is no stranger to onstage performances. Along with performing in Virginia, the Carolinas, and Philadelphia areas, JOE has opened for John Legend, The Roots, and Nick Cannon, to name a few. He also performed at the Michael Jackson 30th Anniversary celebration in New York and the King of Pop's 45th birthday celebration at the Orpheum Theater in LA with Brian McKnight and the Temptations.
TANN has been exposed to a variety of different producers including Joshua Thompson (Alicia Keys, Joe, Babyface), Lamont Fleming (Chris Brown, Tim & Bob), the Matrax (YoungGunz, Jadakiss), and David "Pic" Conley of Surface (Olivia, Joe). He has also had the privilege to collaborate with R&B legend Howard Hewitt and jazz pianist, Bobby Lyle.
TANN committed himself to the studio to work on his debut album NOTHING TO LOSE (2009), teaming up with music producer, JOE "KNOQ HARDA" WRIGHT (Eightball, MJG, and BlackStreet), and eventually forming the independent record label EVOLUTION MUSIC GROUP LLC.
The formation of EVOLUTION MUSIC GROUP, has given me the platform to finally show the world the album that I've been waiting all my life to write and record. And KNOQ has allowed me to express myself as a writer and artist by including me in the production process. Our diverse musicianship is reflected in this album, bringing together the elements of hip-hop, jazz, blues, R&B, pop, and rock (Hip-POP Seoul). In a market filled with one-hit-wonders, we approached this project with the intent of delivering a classic album from start to finish. -JOE TANN
The JOE TANN marketing campaign starts in the club with the debut hit single NIGHT LIFE featuring hip-hop duo the CLIPSE, most notably recognized for the chart-topper, Grindin (produced by the Neptunes). This highly anticipated reggae-hip-hop club anthem is ready to hit the charts, and has already been endorsed by legendary engineer, HERB POWERS (Mariah Carrey, Bob Marley, LL Cool J). JOE TANN's co-release single, MORE THAN YOU KNOW, is an 808-driven club hip-hop ballad that's sure to get the ladies hot.
However, JOE TANN's music is not limited to the club. NOTHING TO LOSE is filled with ditties that feature TANN in his natural element, sitting behind a jazz piano, and/or strumming a guitar. For example, latin-jazz inspired, BAD BOY, showcases his love for music, mixing the elements of vocal swagger, drums, live horns, and piano; piano-driven hip-hop ballad, DROP A TEAR, dramatically showcases his lyrical heartbreak in epic fashion; and lastly, the future single release DANCE IT AWAY, demonstrates TANN's lyrical range, as he sings about love over a backdrop of piano, drums, and the current social and economic climate.
