When singer/songwriter Eliot Osborn was 12 years old, his father drove him 40 miles on two successive weekends to see Ray Charles, and Bob Dylan .“ I was so turned on by those two ” Osborn reflects, “ I am still trying to fuse great lyric with great groove . ” Some 300 songs , two working bands, numerous recordings and thousands of performances later, Eliot’s quest “ to be heard ” is based in reality . “ On a regional level, whatever it is you are supposed to achieve ... radio play, name recognition, professional respect... I enjoy all that already . I thirst for a bump from the industry because I think that when your music gets played on the radio, and subsequently, when people who have never seen you or heard of you call the station and request that music... Well, for me.... that suggests that these songs could happen on a broader scale .”
Currently focusing on writing and recording that “one great song ” that will facilitate all this, Osborn still finds time to play keyboards and sing with the Outerspace Band, a New England cult favorite ( www.outerspaceband.com ) as well as playing guitar and singing with the Joint Chiefs, an acoustic trio who performed at this year’s prestigious Winterhawk Festival .
