The daughter of a school teacher and a wheat farmer, Ana grew up in a small North Dakota town of 50 people. During the long winter months, the family would pile into an old converted school bus and travel to warmer climates - down the coast to California and New Mexico. Perhaps it was this nomadic reverie that laid the foundation for Ana's independent spirit and eclectic musicianship later in life. The idea of drawing from her diverse surroundings and making something from seemingly nothing was always natural to Ana. Known for building her own guitar, she later built herself a house in the New Mexico desert outside of Silver City. Then, leaving her beloved white truck and motorcycle behind, she pulled up stakes for the relative anonymity of Brooklyn. Over the next three years, Ana played elite New York clubs while impressing a dazzling array of musicians. Among them was Out Past the Lights co-producer and bassist Jason Mercer, for years the anchor of Ani DiFranco's band.

Singer /Song-Rocker

"Ana Is an exceptional songwriter. She's the folk Nina Simone." Lucinda Williams

With Out Past the Lights, Ana Egge shatters the singer-songwriter mold. Her mesmerizing songs journey through dreams of lush orchards, exhilarating backroad motorcycle rides, virgin snowfalls, shotgun weddings, deserted cityscapes, desperate rural hollows, starry seas, and the enduring icons of New York--the City of Liberty.

Are you listening indie pop?"

I love this song. Your other music too. :-) But this song.... I have a friend like this, except we aren't children. But we are. ;-)
