Story Behind the Song

This song is about a boy and a girl who are friends and keep getting rejected by person after person until one day the girl suggests they make a pact that in 20 years if they both are still single they'll just settle for each other. There's a twist, though! The girl is suggesting it because she's starting to realize that she is in love with the guy and that the two really do belong with each other.

Lyrics

Verse 1: You talk about her like she's the one. I talk about him, he's more than stars and moon and sun. She's your whole world, he's my heaven up above. One problem is they don't like us

Chorus: But we could be each other's missing piece 20 years from now. If you're still alone and I'm still alone cause nothing else worked out. Get down on one knee! Would you marry me?! If your girlfriend ditched we could get hitched!

Verse 2: I'd learn home cookin' and our kids would be good lookin' with my hair and your smile. We'd hit the beach and the San Diego zoo and on Indie Day you'd barbeque in red, white, and blue!

Chorus2: But we could be each other's missing piece 20 years from now. If you're still alone and I'm still alone cause nothing else worked out. Get down on one knee! Would you marry me!? If the pain ain't stitched we could get hitched!

Bridge: And we'd settle 'stead of picking flower pedals just waiting for the one to come along. Just tie the knot and write the vows 20 years from now.

Final Chorus: But can't you see you're my missing piece right now. You won't be alone cause I'll be the one to help you figure it out. Get down on one knee! Would you marry me cause my heart won't quit we could get hitched!
