Blues Be Gone

Song Description

Sometimes things don't turn out the way you had hoped. "Blues Be Gone" is presented from 3 perspectives. Each verse represents a different part of the journey and the relationship. In the beginning, there's hope and the promise of this new thing. This pov has been hurt before, but has found this source of joy and rejuvenation. There's a foreshadowing thought that creeps around the back of the mind, though. The second part is in the middle of the relationship. There are some "bumps in the road" and the pov is starting to realize that it isn't going to be an an easy go, when things start to go awry. But the relationship is still intact. The bridge is the dissolution of the relationship that has been "going through the motions." The comfort of familiarity and routine, and the memory of better times and great expectations can't keep the relationship alive. The third verse is about reflecting on the relationship and emotional journey, lamenting love lost and hopes dashed. The chorus exists along it's own timeline, independent of the verses and bridge.

Lyrics

Yesterday, I was lookin on down the highway
I thought I'd found my reason to carry on
Look ahead, to good times headed my way
I'm beggin' n' pleadin',
Blues be gone

Blues be gone
C'mon back another day
The road's been long
Good Grief's up ahead sittin' in my lane
I know what I'm sayin', and it's time to go our own way
Blues be gone

Same ol road, but there's trouble 'round the middle
I'm figurin' out that things go wrong
It's gettin cold, snuggle up, hunker down justa little, baby
Get a lil' closer, `til my Blues be gone

Time flies by like the wind
Ridin' the coat-tails of dear old Remember When
Pull over up ahead, there's a rest-stop on the left, and I need a break
Get out and stretch my legs, this road is making me weary, it's about all that I can take
So Blues be gone

Blues be gone
C'mon back another day
The road's been long
Good Grief's up ahead sittin' in my lane
I'm sick and I'm tired of drinking my blues away
Blues be gone

Lookin' back, on that old road from tomorrow
It's got me singin' a sad, sad song
It take my hope away, it fill me up with sorrow
My heart is sinkin', Blues be gone

Blues be gone
C'mon back another day
The road's been long
Good Grief's up ahead sittin' in my lane
Soothe my soul, turn it around and take me home
Oh, take me home
