Story Behind The Song
There's no real story except that I came up with a melody for the chorus. My mood that day was robust and I probabaly was feeling I was getting sick of getting "taken behind the coals" sort-of -speak.
Song Description
The verse descibes the common practices in the music business and how good artists should be, but aren't compensated for their work. It also depicts performances that don't go right for whatever reason.
The second verse descibes another scenario in where someone is trying to get some well-deserved time off and her employer just wants her to work at the drop of a hat and doesn't care whether she is overworked or not.
The chorus is telling the listener to take a stand and not get stepped on in life.
The bridge sums it up by saying that you'll have "peace" by using "smiling" as a metaphor and hopefully! you won't get too burned the next time from learning from past mistakes.

Lyrics
VERSE I
Agent calls you
You say Ok to a show you don't get paid
And you just made a promise to yourself
You'll never pay for free
But keep your dignity
Your show it was a tradgedy
But it won't go down in history today
CHORUS:
Don't take any crap and then you'll see
That life won't be a mystery
Just call the shots
And then you'll say
I'll never be jaded
VERSE II
It's your first day off in several months
You ahve plans throughout the day
You have errands and people to see
Your boss is on the line
The one who's assinine
And he ran the place by himself again
Someone called in sick
He's stuck again today
REPEAT CHORUS
BRIDGE
It's the first time in your life
You'll ever get to smile
It's the last time in your life
You'll ever get burned alive
REPEAT CHORUS
