Fight The Brigade

Story Behind The Song

While managing bills and juggling finances during tax time, Karen Lou Nicole began to think about how much time and energy she expends meeting deadlines, working to make ends meet, concerning herself with rules and laws, and generally fitting into the framework of society. Her thoughts naturally progressed to the life of politicians as she envisioned them as players of the game of ?Risk?; sitting atop their thrones, smoking big cigars, drinking brandy, and laughing jovially as they rolled the dice to come up with fabricated tales to feed the media. She began to wonder if she was being fooled into an imaginary world of freedom, where people do in fact have the option of choosing their own path, provided they meet with the extremely restrictive rules of society. She conceived that much of her time was monopolized by meeting these demands, which left little or no time for individual thought. This, she concluded, was exactly what the top manipulators intended for their subjects, in order to decrease any chance of a revolt and continue leading with their oppressive power. Outraged, she decided that the world would no longer be a victim and vowed to share her message in hopes of realigning the two sectors, keeping the politicians honest.

Song Description

Fight the Brigade has a big sound which can easily be remembered for future recall. The key instrumentation is the arrangement of strings, which elicits the powerful emotions from deep within the listener. The baseline, electric guitar, and drum sequences compliment these strings to give the song an edgy, rock feel. The vocals are unique in the sense that female vocalists rarely take on controversial political themes. They are also distinguishable from other top artists as they contain a sultry and raw sound. This fierce combination of sounds demands attention from the listener. Fight the Brigade was written about the rules, taxes, and restrictions imposed on the general public by government politics. It is specific to the restrictions that elicit control of an individual?s free will, such as financial restraint. When looking at how the working world functions from this perspective, the listener will begin to discern in their own lives what truly holds them back from genuine free will and freedom. As the lyrics for Fight the Brigade were written as thought stimulation, they were not intended to be pigeon holed to one specific institution or organization. This makes the song real for every listener as they can relate it to their own government, office, school, persons of authority (such as parents), or other institutions.

Lyrics

FIGHT THE BRIGADE

They didn?t want you to know that
They were taking all of your control back
Didn?t want you to see them
Making games with the people they?re leading
Didn?t want to let you know
We?re not working for a common goal
Didn?t want you to think

Now they?re hoping that our minds are open
To the record that?s marked by their pen
Now they?re rolling for top dice
To see who loses the most lives
Now they?re willing to let you go
We?re the suckers that suffer the hard roll
Didn?t want you to think

(Chorus)
I was hoping to fight the Brigade
I was hoping to live in a life that I made
I was hoping to fight the Brigade
I was hoping to live in a life that I made
Tired of living like a circus clown
I?m going to be the one to bring it down

Have they told you what?s to follow
Was it something that was hard to swallow
Have they told you that you are next
The front runner in one of their projects
Now they?re willing to let you go
We?re the suckers that suffer the hard roll
Didn?t want you to think

(Chorus)

They didn?t want you to know that
I was hoping to fight the Brigade
Didn?t want you to see them
I was hoping to fight the Brigade
Now they?re willing to let you go
We?re the suckers that suffer the hard roll
Didn?t want you to think

So whatcha gonna do when I?m outspoken
How do you deny the truth I?ve broken
So whatcha gonna do when I?m outspoken

(Chorus x3)
