Fine Day

Story Behind The Song

I wrote 'Fine Day' after reading the first chapter of the famous philosophical novel 'Sophie's World'. I was inspired by the delicious secrets and possibilities that the world speaks especially to children. I was reminded how much I had lost my curiousity for the world and for existence since experiencing work and responsibility and I used writing this song as a revisiting to those wonderful summer days of my childhood, spent often on the beach, where the song begins. It's a song of hope that we don't have to lose our curiousity, and that every now and then we have an incredible day that connects us to our deepest experiences of existence.

Song Description

Musing on the freedom and curiousity of children and how such attributes can be lost or forgotten in adulthood. Celebrating and remembering being small, careless and ultimately awed by the feeling of being alive.

Lyrics

Picking through pebbles, sun sliding down ani-clouds, salt and shimmer on eyelids closing, princess falling. Mysteries under deep earth, answers hanging off the highest trees, scrabbling amongst the branches for the knowledge of gods.

Hiding what is unknown, secrets dripping from your lips, the promise of the question of the universe bears heavy, yeah, the universe bears heavy

And it's a real fine day, you've never felt so tall and you're curious to know how it's a real fine day, and it's strange to be alive, if only for a moment.

Slipping through annums, paper dripping from your hair, you forget how mysterious the universe is. Hiding what is unseen, working through the afternoon, the forces of a million years are lost on you, yeah, they're lost on you.

And it's a real fine day, you've never felt so tall, oh aren't you curious to know how it's a real fine day? It's strange to be alive, if only for a moment.

You're running on and you feel the depths of the air come to meet you. No it won't be long cause you've waited every day of your life to know how it's a real fine day. You've never felt so tall and you're curious, you're curious.
