Story Behind The Song

I was thinking about when people fall in love....wondering if there was an exact moment that you "fall" or if it was a natural progression of emotion. People always talking about falling in love, but they sometimes have trouble pin-pointing the moment that it happened or that they realized what they had found. I wanted to write a song where the character realizes that this is her moment and she cherishes it. I wanted to use the word "tonight" as often as I could for you to really feel how 'in the moment' this discovery was to her. I also wanted to incorporate a new melodic idea I had come up with about 6 months prior (used in the chorus) that I had not thought of the right lyric for...until this song. I think this couple might just make it... ;-) Oh, and my parents always call this song "Moonlight Dances" so now I call it that too. Maybe one day I'll change the title.

Song Description

Doesn't it feel good to fall in love? It's even better when it's the real thing. She has finally found the one she's been waiting on. She's experienced heartache and failed relationships, and at some point began to lose faith that she would ever find true love, but here it is. She is holding it in her arms, and she is so grateful and happy to have found him. She is actually lucky enough to recognize the moment in which the relationship turns the corner, from romantic interest to true love.
