Lyrics

Was drafted for my country on Christmas day of 1972
It's a pretty sad sight to see when everybody looks just like you.
Same rifle, same helmet, same boots we were wearing, we all had the same sized clothes
I would venture to guess about a quarter of us were all standing in the same stiff pose.

I got a green plastic seam where my momma molded me on the day that I was born.
And my uniform has stayed clean through the battles that I've seen no it's never ripped or torn.
I've been shot 347 times and I never seem to feel the pain.
Though my rifle's got a little bity bend in the end, I still got perfect aim.

I've been KIA and I've lived to fight another day.
A soldiers life is all I know, I've never known any other way.
It's hard to be all that I can.
When after all I'm just... a 2 inch army man.

I went MIA for 16 days was lost at battle in the den.
I didn't think that they had missed me just assumed that they replaced me with another green soldier from the bin.
Couldn't tell you bout the prison where charlie had me hidden it was dark and I couldn't really see.
Til they found me crouched in the cushions on the couch I thought that I would never break free.

Suffered injuries in '83 family dog took my leg off clean.
Til they found it in the den I thought I'd never walk again and then they slated me for surgery.
I couldn't have a lot of faith cuz the doc was only 8 with a lighter in his dirty left hand.
But the Bic did the trick he took my leg and made it stick and now I'm feelin' like a brand new man.

I've been KIA and I've lived to fight another day.
A soldiers life is all I know, I've never known any other way.
It's hard to be all that I can.
When after all I'm just... a 2 inch army man.
