Story Behind The Song

I have a friend whose husband left her heartbroken with two kids, no money, and a bleak future. It took alot for her to pick up the pieces and move on. She found strength within herself that she did not know she had, and eventually found a great guy who fell in love with her and and married her. After a few years, the ex shows up wanting a relationship, and this song is what she told him when he came knocking back at her door.

Song Description

A young woman's ex-husband returns after having left her some years ago. She has since gotten remarried. She tells him "don't ask for one more chance/ For loving or romance. /Things just aren't the same./I don't play that fool lover's game." She tells him that she's not the same girl he left shivering in the night with their young son asking her why his father was leaving them. She's pulled herself through the despair and "While you lived your freeman's life/I became another man's wife/And he treats me right/He holds me close/ And keeps me warm at night" She tells him "You live with what you chose/If you win or if you lose/ No I don't regret you ever left... I'm happy where I am." She tells him finally not to come back anymore because there will be no answer at her door and "don't look at me like that, cause I don't want you back."
