Story Behind the SongThis song was written for my wife Tammy. I was trying to see a situation through her eye's. She lost her 7 yr. old daughter less than a year ,before we were married. Although many things can be read into this song, it is about the loss of a child...nothing could be more painful...and coming to terms (if that is even possible), as I have seen, must be the hardest thing anyone could ever go through in this life...
Lyrics
If U Were Here
If u were here, the sun would shine through all the rain...
darkness..leads me to this pain...
I dream of us then, and what could be...
the questions asked, can't be explained...
I wish most times I could be free...
of these thoughts I feel, and memory's...
no place I roam is comforting...
the gray sky's still, and angels sing...
of days to come, I know it's true...
it all sounds good, but I need u...
to guide me safely through each day...
If u were here, is all I pray...
chorus- If u were here,
If you were here, your smile would burn away these tears...
but loneliness is all I feel...
day's gone by don't seem the same...
this solitude amplifies the shame...
it's all taken for granted every day...
so many things just get in the way...
I'd sell my soul, so I could see...
your eye's smiling back at me...
so much has changed since that day...
but your innocence always will remain...
in my heart and in my mind...
without u, it's (just,) wasted time...
CHORUS- (but) if u were here...
(leads)-chorus-
If u were here, rainbows we'd paint up in the sky...
match the stars we'd gaze at through the night...
dreaming of all the days to come...
of our hearts beating just as one...
if u were here, the sun would shine through all the rain,
lifting this darkness and this pain...
chorus-
