Lyrics

STORM OF DAYS
(STEVE DAFOE 2005)
(COPYRIGHTED)

VERSE : 1

Dmaj7 Amaj7
I FLOAT ON MY BACK, HEAVY IN WATER
NO WHERE NEAR THE ANCHOR OF LAND
TO MANY, A LIFE OF NO MATTER
Cm7 Cm7
AND THE GREY CLOUDS LOOM
AS THE WATER STARTS TO CHURN

CHORUS : 1

Am9 Gmaj7
TIRED OF THESE STORM FILLED DAYS
TIRED OF LIVIN' IN A DRUG FILLED HAZE
TIRED OF PICKING UP PIECES OF ME
EM EM
AS I FLOAT IN A SEA OF DESPAIR
Am9 Gmaj7
WHAT DO I DO TO GET ONE GOOD DAY?
HOW DO I STOP CHASING THE DRAGON?
HOW DID I EVER LOSE MY WAY?
EM EM
PICKING UP PIECES IN MY SEA OF DESPAIR

VERSE : 2

Dmaj7 Amaj7
DAY AND NITE...DRUGS AND DRINK
SHATTERING MYSELF OVER AND OVER AGAIN
NO REALITY...I'M WAY PAST THE BRINK

Cm7 Cm7
AND THE GREY CLOUDS GO BLACK
AS THE WAVES WASH OVER ME

CHORUS : 2

Am9 Gmaj7
HERE'S HOPING FOR A BETTER DAY
I'M IN NEED OF A SHELTERED BAY
I GOTTA KEEP PICKIN' UP PIECES OF ME
EM EM
AS I START TO SINK IN MY SEA OF DESPAIR
Am9 Gmaj7
WHAT DO I DO TO GET ONE GOOD DAY?
HOW DO I STOP CHASING THE DRAGON?
HOW DID I EVER LOSE MY WAY?
EM EM
AS I SINK INTO THE SEA OF DESPAIR

VERSE : 3

WENT TO CHURCH ONCE...A CLINIC FOR SINNERS
THERE WAS NO HELP...CAUSE I AIN'T A WINNER
PLACE SEEMED TO BE JUST A MUSEUM FOR THE SAINTS
Cm7 Cm7
AND THE DARKNESS SURROUNDS ME NOW
AS THE WAVES BATTER ME UNDER THE SEA

CHORUS : 3

Am9 Gmaj7
HOPE I FINALLY FOUND MY BETTER DAY
WHEREVER I'M GOIN', I HOPE I STAY
FINALLY FOUND THE PIECES OF ME
EM EM
I FINALLY LET GO OF THE STORM OF BAD DAYS
Am9 Gmaj7
HOPE I FINALLY FOUND MY BETTER DAY
WHEREVER I'M GOIN', I HOPE I STAY
FINALLY FOUND THE PIECES OF ME
EM EM
FINALLY FREE OF THE STORM OF BAD DAYS
SAFE FROM THE STORM OF DAYS

Great singer, Great guitar playing.

- Athenah

love the whole thing, great voice for this type sound, you got something, keep it up. I would love to see this live.

Oh yes...the artist nailed it. There was a combination of well mixed thoughts and arranging which made the track flow! The track wasn't crowded instrumentally, but was just enough flavor to the deliver the message. Nice work...really enjoyed this song!

Great sounding southern rock blues song! Perfect voice for the genre.

Great guitar playing. Vocals go perfectly with the guitar. Great job!!!

Come on man! SING THIS FRICKIN' SONG!

This song is hiding nothing! In your face, raw and oozing heart and talent!

I love the acoustic instrumentation,,,, very "real" and down to earth and that supports the message in the lyrics. Vocal style and quality very good. Emotional song that is very relatable to many, either personally or tangentially about someone in their life....

Liked Everything I Heard! Very Good Round!

This is a good story of personal musings much like "Go Back Home" by Stephen Stills. I really like the section of going to church which is a very effective change from the seafaring voyage into misery, and works wonderfully well with its cynical dose of truth serum. There is some good hope at the end yet not too sweet or syrupy. There's a lot of good humanity in it. The guitar playing is engaging and somewhat raspy vocals compliment the tune very well. It's a very well written song.

What's not to like? The quality of the recording itself is really good. Crystal clear, yet warm. The lyrics are top notch and the song's structure & flow is so smooth. It has everything it needs and nothing that it doesn't. No fluff or filler and not lacking anything either. The guitar riffs and licks are tasteful & appropriate for the vibe of the lyrics & well-executed vocal performance.
This is awesome.

Great tune!! Really cool guitar and vocal combo.

I totally like the jangling acoustic guitar intro. Vocal well placed in the mix, and with the right amount of effects. Interesting vocals. Nice guitar work and cool chord progression. You can hear the miles in the lead vocal's voice. He's done this before! Really nice man! I totally like the bridge/middle change section. Great lyrics. I like that it almost has an edge of fantasy lyrically, with the dragons and all. I am a fan!

great man!, everything, you're damn good at what you do!

Excellent haunting bluesy acoustic guitar and vocal work. Storm Of Bad Days has a dark charm.

Very well done very emotion felt

The vocals are very good. I love the acoustic guitar and the bass.

The vocals had me hooked and mesmerized. The artist took me to a place Ive been before, Great work!

Enjoyed the track. Nice vibe, vocal, instruments well blended. Would make a nice instrumental also.

Nice recording and guitar work is very good! Vocals are right on target. This can work in a film synch for sure just the way it is, but it sure would be nice to hear a full production of the song. It would be kickin with a full band behind this singer!

This song is really cool. Very intelligent well thought out lyrics. I'm usually critical of singer/acoustic guitar music. I generally consider it pedestrian and not memorable enough upon first listen to grab anyone's attention. However, this particular artist really "slam dunked" this song. The instrumentation and vocals are fantastic.

Vocals jump right out at you, solid guitar backing and vocal arrangement. Very nice performance, recording is good. Nice job.

Great sound on the acoustic guitar and also well played. I like the subject matter of dealing with addiction. very well done, the simplicity of the recording really works well for this song.

Great voice. Simple recording, guitar and voice, but damn fine.

good acoustic blues track with some cool lyrics. nice performance and good guitar playing.
