Song Description

This is a love song not to my lover, but for my two boys who are just getting started in the real world. I don't want them to get all wrapped up in things to the point where they don't have time to fall in love.

Story Behind the Song

I write a lot of songs for my kids - twins at 23. They always take things super serious and leave little time for really experiencing experiences. I figured they have worked hard enough and it's time for them to chill and have it all come back to them a little. I wanted this to harken back to the Beatles or maybe Paul Anka or Neil Sedaka, Ann Murray maybe - This is one of those "I'd like to teach the world to sing..." songs. You know, the white polar bears ice skating?

A lovely mix of Laurel Canyon melodies and Pacific Northwest indie pop, sung with an open heart full of hope.

Try Love

When I was a younger man
I'd sing to the light of the day
Never thinking to question its wonder man
For fear I'd be swept clean away

Can't you see that the weight of the things in this world
Will hold you and keep you alone?
So listen to me and create destiny
But you can't if you sleep on your own

So try love
Love, oh sweet love of mine
sweet love of mine
I said love yeah
Love, oh she's a friend of mine
Try love

And if your tables turn
To twist you and then walk away
Turn all of that burn into lessons well learned
And bask in the light of the day

See the hurt won't be long for the ones who stay strong
You're worthy of making a stand
There's a girl over there so consider a dare...
You just have to hold out your hand

And try love, love, sweet love of mine
Try love, yeah, love - she's a friend of mine
She's really fine

I said try love, love, oh sweet love of mine
I said love, yeah, love - she's a friend of mine
She's really fine
I said love, yeah! Love oh sweet love of mine
Sweet love of mine
I said try love
