Song Description

100% "ONE STOP" Publishing & Ready to Go! THEME: Heartbreak/Sadness/Addiction IN THE STYLE OF: One Republic/Imagine Dragons

Story Behind the Song

"What's It Gonna Hurt?" Is a song about heartbreak, sadness, loneliness, and addiction. We cowrote this song as a relationship song, but this could easily be about an addition to anything: alcohol, smoking, gambling, drugs, over-eating, etc. It's about wanting something in the worst way and then giving in. It's opening a door that should stay closed. You can't help yourself. You can't stay away...so "What's It Gonna Hurt?".

WHAT'S IT GONNA HURT? (Feat. Xander Hale)
By Russell Fogg and Janine de Souza

You can't break a broken heart again
I wanna believe, but the scars know where you've been,
And I swore I wouldn't do this anymore
But I lose my will when you're knocking at my door

So what's it gonna hurt?
To go there one more time
What's it gonna hurt?
To give in for one more night
I know there's no rhyme or reason
To why I keep believing
There's no way this could make it worse
So what's it gonna hurt?
What's it gonna hurt?

Kill the lights and slowly turn away
Sit in the dark, 'till the need you starts to fade
But I gotta be my own worst enemy
Grab the phone and call you back to me

Tomorrow morning, I'll start over again
But Day One's never gonna be my friend
