I heard SF Collective's version of Superstition and loved the bass line and harmony. It inspired me to take a similar approach to The Old Rugged Cross.
Contemporary jazz piano melody with a melodic bass line and harmony based on fourths.
Nice piece, pleasant, relaxing, and enjoyable.
Wow... super sharp and keenly cool. I love this thing. A great version because of the fine musicianship, arrangement and production. But the ability to make this tune fresh and bring it to the masses in a truly beautiful way is what really makes this thing sing. Bravo. Bravo indeed.
Great mix. The song, as far as instrumentation goes, is simple and direct. Not too much added, which is just what this song is all about. Great musicianship. When the song first started I wasn't sure if the category was right for this song, but as the piano chords came in, the dissonance proved me wrong. Nice changes and voicings.
Oh my...an old hymn with a jazz flare. LOVE IT!!! You have done a tremendous song with this. I am a keyboard/piano/bass player, and this is just right down my alley. What a wonderful piece of music. I take my hat off to you. You have taken this song and made it your own...added your own flare and taste to it to make it unique. Well done my friend.
