Story Behind The Song
Inspired by the writings of Dylan Thomas as well as an old oil painting of a ship amidst a tempest at sea and a love for the water after spending years working on boats in the Great Lakes.
Song Description
A sea-inspired song in 6/8 with a heavy acoustic feel, featuring acoustic and electric guitars, ukelele, harmonica, an acoustic bass, and drums. The male vocal cuts beautifully though the mix and expresses a genuine longing to leave. The bridge, 2/3 of the way through the song, takes on a darker tone and switches to a minor key before rising back into the final chorus.
