Song Description

This is a song that deals with bravery and speaking out for what is right. The central character has taken on a big challenge of cleaning up the blight in an area despite the opposition he's receiving from the powers that be. Could work well as a theme for a political movie or any film that has a hero fighting against the odds.

Story Behind the Song

My husband is the editor of a newspaper and he's been on a crusade to clean up all the blight in our area. He's taken on much opposition but refuses to back down. I wrote this song after he had a big showdown with some city officials and the Mayor, who are very unhappy he has been exposing their laziness and lack of concern for the area and its residents.

Broadjam Member Reviews

Wow! The vocal harmonies on the chorus really surprised me. I was expecting a more traditional single-vocal hook, but the big harmonies really tickled my ears. In fact, those harmonies are the strongest part of the song! Very tight with great movement. I hope you incorporate those harmonies in your other work!

interesting use of instruments, flute et al, lyrics have real potential. strong message, good structure, like the hook line allot.

Don't know how you do it

It's courageous and bold

Standing up against the wolves

Shielding sheep in the fold

A lesser man would run

A weaker man would hide

But you've never been afraid

To go against the stormy tide

You're the last of the brave ones

Fearing not to shine your light

The last of the brave ones

Speaking out against the blight

If there were more like you

We'd all be dancing in the sun

You're the last of the brave ones

You've earned our respect

And our deep admiration

For upholding the justice

That build this great nation

Yet you're not a boastful man

Or one with selfish pride

Just a humble warrior

Whose mission will not be denied

Someone needs to say it

You think, 'why not me?'

And imagine a future

Built on ancient chivalry
