Story Behind The Song
This is a ballad/waltz about lost love that was written many years ago as a Beatle type song. Recently, I realized it's really a country song, so I put some pedal steel guitar on it and the result is pretty nice.
Song Description
It's a country song about lost love and the need to escape.

Lyrics
The evening was gloomy and raining outside,
and everyone else had gone out for a ride,
but she stayed at home by the window
just in case he rang,
She walks down the hallway, she picks up her 'phone,
why won't his memory leave her alone?
she smiles to herself and says sadly, "that's the way it goes"
And the galloping horses are crossing the plain,
and she knows that she can no longer remain
'cause they're calling to her to come out and play
and just let her sorrowing heart
fade away.
The book she was reading had ended too soon,
so she just sat there and stared out at the moon
and wondered what he would be doing, did she really care?
seven o'clock, eight o'clock, nine o'clock, ten,
she wonders if she'll ever see him again,
but it doesn't matter, she's going
where they'll never find her
Where the galloping horses are crossing the plain,
and she knows that she can no longer remain
'cause they're calling to her to come out and play
and just let her sorrowing heart fade away
Where the galloping horses are crossing the plain
and she knows that she can no longer remain,
'cause they're calling to her to come out and play
and just let her sorrowing heart fade away.
