P is 16
Being a senior at Killeen High School is just a minor part of the day in the life of La Tasha Parham also known as P16. P16 holds down a 3.2 GPA and is currently
ranked in the top 10 percent of her class. Her massive potential was validated by her peers when they voted her KHS c/o 2007 "Mostly Likely to Succeed". P16 has currently
recieved acceptance from Baylor University.
La Tasha started writing poetry, at 8 years old. "It started as a hobby, an emotional outlet, and grew into a way of life." Personal experiences coupled with the need to escape the
pressures of being a teenager gave rise to the artist we know today as P16.
La Tasha began attending open mike poetry at Under One Roof African American Book Store and Culture Shop in Killeen. Encouragement from family and friends led P16
from a soft spoken speaker, to a spoken word artist. Though she suffered loses in slams such as Make it Wet Spitfest; IV and V in Austin
TX, the Under 21 Youth Poetry Slam in Austin, TX, Rhyme or Die. II and III in Killeen, she rose to become the reigning weekly Slam Champ in
Killeen. "It's not always about the obvious win to me. My goal is to inspire the audience; if I can make one person think, I consider myself a winner."
La Tasha is an advocate for positive teen activities. With the help of Silky Crown Entertainment, she is hosting a weekly Under 21 open mike night in Killeen, so all teens can
come and express themselves, and just have fun. P16 has currently released her debut album, P is 16 which is now available for purchase online at CDBABY.com, BURNLOUNGE.com, and iTunes.
