Jason Montero

'I've spent the better part of the last 20 years pinballing around different regions of this beautiful, remarkable country. A lot of nights, I'm the guy bringing the songs. I've played with friends and strangers, brothers and sisters, lost souls and wild cats, journey-men and school-boys, and I've played alone... tucked away in corners or up on stages in theaters and dives and music clubs, in bars so filled with smoke you could hardly recognize a true fire.

And people hear you or they don't, and they usually let you know either way - and they come with their stories, and their critiques, and their requests, and sometimes they tell you you're living the dream; and sometimes, too, you can see that you've made a connection. Making music isn't really something you do, it's something you are. When in doubt just be yourself. See you out there.'

Hi, I'm not even sure what your comment is in reference to?

Hi Jason, Forgive me but I was commenting on your song "Conclusive Illusions". I've only just signed up with Broadjam, but coincidentally, I noticed that you were being promoted by Stuart Epps! This guy contacted me from my LinkedIn page, saying that he'd like to hear one of my band's tracks. I thought that this was a nice gesture. A promoter looking to be somewhat philanthropic and help an unsigned artist. However, this was far from the case! He offered to remaster the track and insert a new drum track for £850! I was horrified! Someone just looking to line his pockets, after all. Obviously I was intrigued to find out a bit more about your music, in the hope that I could work out why your music was so much better than ours.
Again, please forgive me. The track was well-produced as far as I could tell with my limited experience of reviewing other people's work, But personally, I found it unmemorable. I've loaded four of our tracks up to Broadjam free for streaming. I'd prefer them to be heard rather than bought and I thought that this might be a way of promoting our sound.
Also, I imagined that any comments made on specific songs would show up somewhere as just that. Also thought the comment would go to the promoter and NOT the artist himself! Once more I apologise for being a bit negative, but I think that the Stuart Epps link just got to me! We've got 10 years experience in writing and arranging all our own material, and our fourth album is almost "oven-ready", but we can't currently get into the studio to complete it because of this lockdown. I notice you have a track called Venus and Mars. Will give it a listen. We have a track called Mars from our first album.
I'm curious to know how much Stuart Epps charges you for his promotion services. He was really unhelpful to us. Sorry to go on. Good luck Jason.

Hey, wow - that's kind of F'ed up because Stuart has NOTHING to do with my music (other than having written a 'pro review' through Broadjam for one of my tracks. Conclusive Illusions is a workshop track that I made in garage band, myself, to demo the song for possible licensing. some of the tracks I'm shopping on broadjam i produced with a band, for real CDs, and they have real production - like Out of my tree, or closing rhyme.... but again, not Stuarty Epps, who incidentally also 'cold contacted' me and asked if I needed any 'production help'. the whole Broadjam thing has felt a little sticky to me for a while, and i just keep counting the yellow flags. best of luck with your music!

Thanks so much Jason! You've been really kind. You are shown as an example though, of the type of artist Epps promotes. Yeah, I get the feeling that this guy is simply bad news. Take care.
Jane.
