The Gloaming were formed in early 2004 and quickly claimed the title of St. Louis' premiere "rock your world" band.
The band upgraded their lineup in October of 2008, when original members Dan Nagel (Lead Vocals) and Matt Baca (guitar) raised the standards of the band by bringing in Eric Schad on guitars, John Frischer on bass, and Carl Swanson on drums. These guys have been called "Led Zepellin for the 21st Century" for good reason.
In September, 2007, the band signed with 12 Bar Records and their Freshman album "DIEI" was released in August 2008.
The Gloaming are travelling the Midwest, playing shows from Michigan to Kentucky, Ohio to Kansas, so look for them in your town soon.
Look out World! You have no idea what's about to hit you right between the ears!
10-9-08 - The Gloaming just returned from a whirlwind tour of Michigan, where they took them by storm. At their shows in Traverse City, there were radio execs and DJs from WKLT Radio who had been playing the DIEI album for two weeks before the Gloaming's arrival. The crowd was on their feet and singing along, giving the boys back as much energy as they put into the show!
"We will definitely be back to Northern Michigan", said Matt Baca.
Be on the lookout in your town!
DYNAMIC SOUND AND GUT BUSTING RIFFS BEST DESCRIBES "THE GLOAMING", A ST. LOUIS BASED ROCK BAND THAT HAS A HIGHLY ANTICIPATED STUDIO ALBUM THAT DROPPED IN AUGUST OF 2008. THE ALBUM IS ENTITLED "DIEI" (LATIN FOR DAY) AND IS THE SECOND RELEASE FOR THE GLOAMING, BUT THEIR FIRST FULL-LENGTH ALBUM.
"DIEI" INCLUDES TEN TRACKS OF HIGH ENERGY ROCK THAT REALLY GETS YOUR BLOOD PUMPING. WITH SONGS SUCH AS "WAR BOOTS", THE MEMBERS DESCRIBE THEIR FIRST PERSON EXPERIENCE OF SERVING IN IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN WHILE BALLADS SUCH AS "GRIP OF THE SEA" AND "RELEASE ME" DESCRIBE THE UPS AND DOWNS OF LIFE AND RELATIONSHIPS.
IN EARLY 2004 THE GLOAMING ERUPTED ON THE SCENE, PLAYING VENUE AFTER VENUE AS THEIR FAN BASE GREW WITH EVERY CONCERT. THEN THEY UNOFFICIALLY RELEASED "ELECTRIC THUNDER", AN EP PRODUCED BY TONY LOCAR OF SHOCK CITY RECORDS AND S&S STUDIOS. THIS ALBUM HAD A GREAT RECEPTION BY THE GLOAMING'S FANS AND HAD NO PROBLEM SELLING OUT AT EVERY SHOW. THE GLOAMING WERE QUICKLY MAKING A NAME FOR THEMSELVES.
THEN IN JULY 2007 THE GLOAMING PLAYED THE MANCUSO ST. LOUIS MUSIC SHOWCASE, WHICH INCLUDED TEN OF ST. LOUIS' BEST BANDS. ATTENDING THIS CONCERT WERE REPRESENTATIVES FROM FOUR LOCAL AND NATIONAL RECORD LABELS. THE GLOAMING WAS THE ONLY BAND APPROACHED BY THE LABELS, WHICH GAINED THE BAND IMMEDIATE RESPECT IN THE ST. LOUIS ROCK SCENE. "THE GLOAMING CAPTIVATED ME WITH THEIR SHEER PRESENCE, POWER, AND RAW TALENT. WITH THE COMBINATION OF THE BANDS FUN-LOVING ATTITUDE, CLEVER LYRICS, AND A LITTLE STUDIO PRODUCTION, THE GLOAMING COULD BE A HUGE ACT", SAID LARRY COWSERT (CEO AND EXECUTIVE PRODUCER OF 12 BAR PRODUCTIONS). 12 BAR RECORDS SIGNED THE BAND TO A THREE YEAR/THREE ALBUM DEAL FROM THIS SHOWCASE, DESPITE COMPETITION FROM OTHER LABELS.
THE GLOAMING RECORDED THEIR ALBUM AT 12 BAR SOUND STUDIOS WITH CHIEF ENGINEER TRAVIS KING. "DIEI" WAS PRODUCED BY LARRY COWSERT AND TRAVIS KING, AND WAS MASTERED BY BILLY DECAMPI (WRITER OF THE MULTI-PLATINUM "TWO TICKETS TO PARADISE" AND CURRENT PRODUCER OF TWO ACTS FOR SONY) AND TRAVIS KING.
