Bio of Dr. Krugenstein

Growing up in the Midwest there has always been and influence between the different styles of Hip Hop. East Coast, West Coast, and Dirty South. I was exposed to music at a very young age. My father owned and operated a Retail/Wholesale One Stop music store. I spent most of my time there as a toddler and began to work there by the time I was 10 years old.

By the time I was a senior in high school, I started doing mix tapes and basement parties. I also began working with a local rapper creating beats for him. I purchased some recording equipment and I began to produce and record tracks for him. In the summer of 1996 I was fortunate enough to intern at Battery Studios in Chicago. I was able to work with the Chief Engineer, Stephen George who at the time was recording and mixing the song “I believe I can fly” by Robert Kelly. During this internship I was able to learn my way around professional mixing consoles such as the SSL 4000 G+ and 24 track tape machines and the effects used to enhance sounds within a song. I took this knowledge and began to incorporate in the way that I record and produce songs.

My greatest inspiration in music comes from Dr. Dre. Some of the other producers that I'm inspired from are DJ Quik, Timbaland, Scott Storch, JimmyJam and Terry Lewis, Teddy Riley, just to name a few.
