Smooth

JW

JW express an outspoken, self-empowered swagger that rallies his listeners. Whether proclaiming himself, “JW,” or “Mr. Wright” or “Blacula” or “Jay” the self-appointed “man of wisdom” asks the question “R U Real?” The song “All the Girls,” is a good-natured examination of romantic success and failures spiced with his sense of humor. His flow is smooth and inflected with jazzy rhythms and carried off with an effortless cool that causes you sit back, relax and enjoy. “Blacula” has a techno feel that causes one to raise an eyebrow and take notice. JW struggles to find meaning in a confusing world realizes the “Thin Line” between righteousness and sin, good and evil, life and death, and Heaven and Hell. Although JW has a smile that welcomes you, he shows his awareness of things around him in this song with its catchy hook, “Don’t let my smile fool you.”

Born in St. Petersburg, FL., JW is an only child raised in a troubled and abusive home. Despite his parents problems he love them both, which inspired his dedication in the song “Mamma and Daddy.”

JW personnel life became increasingly conflicted, as his mother began suffering from cancer and later died in 2002. JW took time off as he dealt with his personal issues but returned to the studio in 2004, eager to complete this project. Now here he is. Welcome.
