As co-founder and driving force behind the band bearing his name (VAN NESS), John Van Ness spent six years dealing with the trials and tribulations that accompany the life of a gigging musician. Constantly preparing for the next show, marketing and managing the band along with being the ?band psychologist? kept him away from what he did best ? writing songs. Despite loving the band experience, the members of Van Ness decided it was time for a change and played their final show together on November 21, 2001.

Although he has no regrets about being in a band, he has adjusted life after a band quite nicely. He has created his own recording studio (Brown Sounds Studios) where he now concentrates on writing and producing songs. Several projects are currently in the works, including his first ?Solo? Album and a full-length album with his brother (and longtime collaborator) Joshua Van Ness.
