Hi Innes, I played "So Tired of Living" out of curiosity as it popped up on the BJ new songs banner. That's some smoking Blues and authentic blues guitar soloing with great tone (I find real blues playing quite rare actually, as opposed to flash guitar over blues changes).

Well done!!

Great cover on "This Train" Innes; very soulful. Also listened to your "Where Are You", and was completely enchanted by your lovely acoustic guitar prowess; a beautiful piece!

I am also struck by the photo of you in Austria, (that you have for your icon), reminiscent of a Rembrandt with the lighting, color pallet and expression; a lovely photo capturing your "in the moment bliss"! :-) Really fine music!

Thanks Cyndi, i covered the Bunny Wailer version of "This train" but there are so many great versions of this beautiful song. "Where are you ?" i wrote about my mum after she passed away several years ago, i'm glad you like it, i'm playing quite a few solo acoustic shows this year & am thinking about doing my next album with all acoustic songs. Hope all is good with you :-)

Yes, "This Train" is a lovely, blues-gospel tune that has withstood the "test of time", and I love hearing all the different interpretations; your rendetion is quiet inspiring.

What a beautiful tribute to your mother! The loss of dear ones can inspire us, while also, cause us to ask so many questions, and your questioning brought about a lovely piece.
All is well here, thank you!

Innes - I like Where Are You. The mix level is a little low when I listen. It would be good if you could bring the level up just a tad and maybe repost it. Great playing tho!

Where Are You?......... Innes, wow a melodic masterpiece. I had to listen to it 3 times so that I could really appreciate some of the wonderful phrasing. In particular @ 1:04 then that section @ 1:59 - 2:11... boy I tell ya. had to play that one back a few times. So nice. and the harmonics @ 2:24. Damn that was an inspired idea. Another great one by Innes. thanks ...kenney

Wow thanks Miguel, thats really kind.

I don't know, for me it was reminiscent of one of my all time favorites. A blues rockin Irish guy named Rory Gallagher. I enjoyed your work on the same level.

Author
Innes Sibun

Wow thanks, i love Rory, several years ago we played the Rory Gallagher festival in Ballyshannon where Rory was born which was a great honour.

Author
Robert Adams

After reading the Rory Gallagher comment, I had to check this out. Great Strat tones, Innes. Some nimble fretwork too. I can see the Rory reference and the SRV as well. I was fortunate to see Rory play a few times. He performed with the kind of intense energy this performance had. Being compared to Rory is also an honor for any guitarist.

Author
Innes Sibun

Thanks Robert, it certainly is an honour. I know Rory's brother Donal well from being involved with several tribute shows including one at the Iridium in NYC & he has so many great stories about Rory.

Author
Robert Adams

That must be fascinating hearing Donal tell Rory stories. I know they were very close and Donal was very involved. I have to admit, I've got Rory up on a pretty high pedestal going back all the way to Taste, "On the Boards" "Isle of Wight" and "Montreaux," and the solo stuff all the way, and as it evolved with the "Fresh Evidence" era which was so great in other ways. If he were still alive and I had a chance to meet him, we probably wouldn't talk about muted harmonics though, but rather his love for detective fiction of Raymond Chandler and Dashiell Hammett. Rory was so ...larger than life.

Author
Innes Sibun

Ha ha yes he loved his detective books. Donal told me once about the time they were late for a show & couldn't find Rory, when they found him he was out on the cliffs writing the lyrics to "Million mile away". I'll upload my version here on the profile.

Oh man, Innes, that was so incredible! That's one of my favorite Rory songs that I've listened to a billion times on "Irish Tour." You know, when I see that somebody's done a cover of something like Jimi Hendrix "Voodoo Child," or this song, I think -- oh-oh that's pretty ambitious and it's never going to come close. This really did, not that it's a replica, but rather captured a lot of the great (and pretty unique) sounds Rory was able to get, and was a brilliant expansion of some of the guitar ideas. Enjoyed that tremendously. Would you consider turning on the "Buy" button for that? I'd love to purchase it so I can listen to that version another billion times.

Author
Innes Sibun

Cool, will do.

Hey Innes, Although I understand what Robert is saying about being compared to Rory. I was not drawing a comparison to Rory. Your work stands on it's own merit just fine. But I am just happy to hear that someone had picked up the torch and is carrying on the tradition of that style of great blues rock guitar work. Also glad to hear that people still remember Rory. I thought I would lose you on that reference

Author
Innes Sibun

It seems that people all over the world still love Rory because of his music & also because of his charisma as a genuine artist.

Author
Robert Adams

Thanks very much, Innes. I did download it, and a few others. Was really pleased to see (hear) "What's Going On" there too. Great version of that, too.

And by the way... Cool story about Rory out on the cliffs writing "Million Miles Away." Wouldn't be the same if the song were "Walk on Hot Coals," but "Million Miles Away" -- that makes a great story.
