Mike, Congratulations in being a top 5 finalist in the rock category of the Show Me The Music Contest with "Angels"! Happy for you!
Hey thanks bro! Sorry for the delay, I haven't been getting on here like I should in a while....
Trying to try my eyes.. So I can write this comment! " 29 anglels" is powerful, beautiful.. Amazing vocals... Love the message... Here is why.... My brother died at the age of 7 to a brain tumor( he died 2 years before I was born)... So the song touched my heart.. We know he is in heaven watching over us! And we will get to see him someday! I have song about him I am trying to work on called" Our little boy"...He was a trooper of a kid.. And had such a sweet heart, my parent's said.... Anyway, thks for writing that song and sharing it... Many Blessings.....loved the style, hooks, everything about it....... Julia

Haha thanks brother!!
Can You Hear Me is another amazing song, Micheal. Love it--you sound so much like 3 Doors Down. 5 stars from me. :)
Hey guys! I just uploaded a track called, "Can You Hear Me?" Check it out and give me some feedback, please!!!!!
listened to it , great music , you deliver the hook well. might of could have used another verse to describe the couple's source of conflict, was it just the long distance or was it trust issues , ya know. very strong song tho, I can hear a lot of bands doing it , matchbox 20 or somebody that rocks it. I like it a lot.
Hi Michael, I hate to sound like Randy Jackson, but I’m a big fan. So here goes. I love the harmony on the first two lines. Why have them so low in volume. They’re awesome. Turn em up On the third line you change the chord progression which is interesting but for my money it needs a 4th line. It’s a question and answer kind of thing but with no answer. So a 4th line could address that and build to the hook THE HOOK The second and third lines sound forced. How bout I left you in the smoke (better imagery) Headed for the coast (east coast west coast does it matter? After the guitar lead we need one of your killer middle eight sections, another verse the chorus again and then out. It's a damn good rocker and should be on the radio.
Hey MLC - song posted I wrote with Dianne. Take a listen , nd see if u can find a harmony part. We can do it after turkey day.
I checked out that song! I just love Dianne's voice. Really really peaceful. Almost an Alanis Morisette kind of thing...
Thank you Micheal! Does that mean you're in??? :)
Of course!
Hey Michael, congrats on the blues chart. Those are some killer guitar riffs in the Tale of Johnny Wade. Who is playing that?
Well, I played the rhythms and a guy named Chris Gavin played the solo. He was the front man for a band called Dust For Life. They had a couple of hits in the late 90's. He is one of the best guitar players i've ever seen. Thanks for noticing!
It cracks me up how sound recordings don't really make a bit of difference on getting picked up. I've had stuff that i spent a ton of money polishing up and doesn't get picked up. Then a song like "Callous" get's picked up and I recorded it in a spare bedroom at a friends house. Go figure...
A good song is a good song. That’s why I post some rough cuts. The feed back tells me if I have an appealing melody and a strong hook or not. I don’t care about the ratings on recording quality or musicianship. One afternoon I stumbled on a TV show I think called Scrubs. Anyway this guy is supposed to be dead and is playing an acoustic guitar in this scene. Thought I’d never heard the tune but I immediately liked it. Then I realized it was that guy from Men at Work and he was doing an acoustic version of their big hit “Overkillâ€. No sax, no bass or drums no production works. Nice chord changes a catchy melody and a great hook. A good song is a good song. Those two guys that wrote “Buy ME A Rose†that was a #1 hit for Kenney Rogers and Luther Vandross said in an interview that they recorded the demo in the barn and that you could hear the cows mooing in the background. A good song is a good song.
Awesome story!!
Thanks guys for sharing your experiences. I've got a lot of material I've been afraid to post or submit because the recordings are bad, yet I feel they are my strongest songs. I guess I need to just go ahead and let them out, get the feedback, and see what happens. Like Uncle says, a good song is a good song, right?
Air'em out!
We wanna hear em. Don't worry about the guys with all the cool equipment, even they know a good song when they hear it. This is a note I sent to Nashville Joe about what we do as composers. Hi Nashville Joe, Yes indeed, you may very well be an Electric Dirt Clod. The Electric Dirt Clods is a Broadjam underground collective comprised of musicians who've been knocked around enough to know that putting down someone else's music is not the way to improve your own work. Writing music isn't about going ten rounds and knocking out the other guy/girl, it's a life long passion. We all have a gift we get to share, and while some songs may be a bit better than others, so what. You would be a welcome addition to our underground. However in the words of Groucho Marx "I refuse to join any club that would have me as a member." You may abstain from joining. Post away ............kenney
Great way to look at it! I feel exactly the same way. Thanks for supporting music. Recorded top notch or otherwise!!!
congrats on Switchblade #5 on pop charts MLC !
Thanks bro!
Alright, Michael. It deserves to be number 1.
Hey, I hope all of my east coast broadjammers are ok. I know you guys have had a crazy past couple of weeks. Throwing a prayer up for all envolved!
thank you for the add, nice music.. have a great weekend. Ario
Ya know, I'm down with getting a bad review from someone. Ya can't please everyone but when someone misquotes song lyrics and tries to tell me their own rhyme scheme to what they misquoted: a) ticks me off and b) makes them look like a chump.
Hey Michael, You're a class act....don't worry..... for what its worth we all get bad reviews every day.....its character building.....music is totally subjective so you are right you cant please everybody....keep the songs coming. Cheers Laurence
Thanks man! Some people's kids......... ;-)
some of these chaps want to be Simon (F'N) Cowell; some think all songs should sound like programmed radio that appeals to 13 year old girls; truth is: there is more to taste than what is on the end of your tongue. bottomline - Laurence is right: Michael Lee Collins is a class act. PERIOD!
thats the shit i was on about, thoughtless reviews. be intelligent about it not just arsey! i feel your pain my friend!
It always seems to me the person handing out poor scores, when u look at their own song plays either have 3 or 4 songs total and no individual song plays over20. My point is , they havent written enough songs or been at it long enough to be the "expert" they are acting like,
Oh and to top it off, the guy didn't even write his own tunes.... I commented on his page about it but for some reason he took it down? And yeah 3 songs with under 20 spins.
was i right about the song totals or what? Iwas just guessing, but that happened to me recently when a guy gave me a poor review, then giving me a lecture on songwriting like he taught Paul MCartney how to write. I looked at his song plays and thats about what he had too, but at least he wrote his own songs !
Question: What makes a bad review? I actually find myself canceling out of songs I can't say anything nice about and I cringe when the score ends up anything less than 39/50. I've done tons of reviews and only just uploaded my first attempt at working with a songwriter. I anticipate less than favorable remarks and that's way okay for this time around. For me, anyway...
I do that same thing Aletha. If it isn't something I remotely listen to for their sake I would rather someone who does know review for their own benefit
Hey, ya'll. Newb on the loose with some pretty heavy hands on the scoring knobs and absolutely no constructive comments. Must be trying to zip through 80 reviews so he can get some too. Sitting at 0 plays down the board... If you're gonna give me 1's and 2's at least tell me why. I'm a big girl. I can take it... Right?
i lsitened to your song , Aletha , no way should someone score a 1 or 2 on any part of it, its a very nice tune. If your score is extremely low, you can always report it to customer service as an unfair review. At least report the guy to them and let them check it out, I would.Especially if he has no song plays.
Michael, thanks for your glowing review of "My Sweet Texas," much appreciated! Matt
Sure thing man! You guys were jamming!!!
Thanks, Michael!!
Micheal, I want to thank you for the very nice review of Christmas in town. I'm glad you liked it. C.J.Miller
Great tune C.J.! I was glad to run across it!!!
I love Lover's Lane. Very creative! If this is a rough recording, I can't wait to hear the polished one. Nice Job.
Thanks bro! Man i pretty much lived in a studio polishing up 'pop' songs for a record I did about a year and a half ago. I really just grew tired of making music that way. The proof is in the pudding. A good song is a good song. I kind of like the rough stuff anyway. Thanks again bro!!!
Love me some Lover's Lane. it's Chuck Berry meets Joe Walsh !
Thanks bro!!
